Clapham fire: Person dies after car ‘destroyed’ in blaze

A person inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, the London Fire Brigade said.

A person has died after a car was “destroyed by fire” in south London.

Firefighters dashed to Clarence Avenue, Clapham, in Lambeth, at 2.45am on Tuesday, December 27 to reports of a fire.

A person inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, the London Fire Brigade said, and a car was “destroyed by fire”.

A brigade spokesperson said: “The brigade was called at 2.45am and the incident was over for firefighters by 3.24am.

“Fire crews from Brixton and Clapham fire stations attended the scene.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
