Cristiano Ronaldo has scored three goals in 16 appearances for Man Utd this season

Piers Morgan has urged Arsenal to sign Cristiano Ronaldo and has claimed they would win the title with the him in their team. This comes after Morgan revealed snippets of an explosive interview with the Manchester United forward that will air later this week.

The 37-year-old sat down for a 90-minute filming of Piers Morgan Uncensored, with various quotes already being revealed including Ronaldo admitting he ‘feels betrayed’ and that he feels he is being forced out of the club. Ronaldo re-signed for the Red Devils last summer and his return was one of the most talked about events in football history, however it hasn’t gone as well as hoped.

Despite the former Real Madrid star finishing last season as their top scorer with 24 goals in all competitions, doubts were cast upon Ronaldo’s impact on the team and there were soon calls for his departure after United failed to qualify for the Champions League. The Portugal international expressed his desire to leave over the summer, however he failed to find a new side and has remained at Old Trafford this season - though out of favour under new boss Erik ten Hag.

With the World Cup approaching and the Premier League not returning until Boxing Day, Ronaldo has chosen now to speak out on his troubles with the Red Devils and his comments make it very unlikely that he will feature for the team again. With Morgan often showing his support for the striker, he has now urged the Gunners to snap him up in January.

Shortly after Morgan’s interview was announced, the former Good Morning Britain presenter responded to a tweet regarding his hopes for Arsenal signing Ronaldo. Morgan tweeted: “He’s exactly what we need...”Cristiano & “gabrieljesus9 would take us to the title.”

Arsenal are flying this season after signing the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira and Gabriel Jesus - with the latter particularly impressing despite his goal draught. After netting five in his first eight Premier League matches, Jesus hasn’t scored since the Gunners’ win over Tottenham at the start of October. With the club now reportedly looking to bolster their attack in January, Morgan is eager to see Mikel Arteta target Ronaldo and potentially start him alongside the Brazilian.

Ronaldo will be hoping this winter’s World Cup can increase his chance of finding a suitor, however it is his staggering £500k p/w salary that has put off interest so far. With Arsenal’s current highest earner Jesus earning just over half of that, the Man United forward would have to take a significant pay cut if he was to move to North London.

Morgan’s interview with Ronaldo is set to air across Wednesday and Friday night at 8pm - a week before Portugal’s World Cup opener against Nigeria.
