Chelsea star provides 'unfortunate' injury updates after double blow is confirmed ahead of Bournemouth

Chelsea's fourth consecutive win came at a cost with two players ruled out of the last game of the season.

Mykhailo Mudryk has ruled himself out of Chelsea’s final match of the season at home to Bournemouth. The forward who started the game and looked lively is suspected to have suffered a concussion after colliding with Tariq Lamptey

The Ukrainian wrote on his Instagram page on Thursday afternoon: "Unfortunately, the season for me is over. Thank you for all your messages, I feel better. See you next season, Blues. It’s part of the game."

He joins Reece James who will also miss the last game and the first three from next season after being sent off for kicking out against Joao Pedro last night. The sending-off is a blow to James who has only returned from a four-month injury layoff and was looking to force his way into the England team for the Euros. 

It wasn't all downhill for Chelsea who have now made up for the 10 points they were behind Newcastle are now almost certain to get Europa League football if Manchester City win the FA Cup at the end of the season.

In what has been an incredibly tough season, Chelsea still have an outside chance of finishing fifth but they will need to beat Bournemouth and hope Tottenham lose their final game of the season against already relegated Sheffield United

Ange Postecoglou’s side have lost four of their last five games but are favourite to take all three points which makes finishing sixth almost certain for Mauricio Pochettino’s improving side.

The Argentinian manager is now also likely to stay as Chelsea boss for next season after a strong end to a challenging first season in west London.
