Could this former Tottenham Hotspur manager make a surprise return to the Premier League?

Ex-Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has emerged as one of the favourites for the Leeds United job. The Premier League side are in the hunt for a new manager after deciding to sack Jesse Marsch.

West Brom’s Carlos Corberan is currently the 5/4 frontrunner on SkyBet but is followed by Pochettino in second at 6/1. Marcelo Bielsa is also 6/1, followed by Ralph Hasenhuttl at 7/1, Marcello Gallardo at 12/1 and Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou at 14/1.

Pochettino, 50, is currently weighing up his next move in the game after leaving PSG last summer. He has been linked with a few jobs but will carefully pick his destination.

Spurs turned to the former Espanyol centre-back in 2014 after he caught the eye at Southampton and he ended up becoming a very popular with the North London outfit. He won 54.27% of games in charge and guided them to the Champions League final for the first time back in 2019.

His side were beaten in the final in Madrid by Liverpool and he was sacked during the season after. He then joined PSG and won Ligue 1 last term with the help of players like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Neymar before departing.

Leeds are only above the relegation zone on goal difference and are in a relegation battle. Pochettino does links with Bielsa after rising up through the ranks at Newell’s Old Boys as a youngster but time will tell whether he would be open to going down the same path to Elland Road as his former boss.
