Guglielmo Vicario turned the heads of Italian football fans with a jaw-dropping save in February and now Spurs fans have got their hands on the video.

Tottenham Hotspur fans were left chomping at the bit to see new arrival Guglielmo Vicario in action for the club after a viral video of the keeper pulling off a remarkable save for former club Empoli.

The 26-year-old became Spurs' first signing of the summer transfer window late last month when he arrived at the club on a five-year deal for a reported £17.2 million.

The Italian is somewhat of an unknown for many Spurs fans having not played in Europe and turning out for lowly Serie A side FC Empoli. It's left many supporters looking for clips of their new star online and one in particular has merged and garnered nearly 600,000 views on social media platform TikTok.

Posted by his former club, to the background track of 'Smooth Operator', Vicario can be seen making a triple save that became famous in Italy this season.

During a meeting with Roma in February, the keeper first saved a Paulo Dybala effort from the edge of the box, followed by a close-range Gianluca Mancini volley and then a Tammy Abraham header from one yard away in a matter of seconds.

The save won the star plaudits at the time, perhaps adding a few extra million onto his valuation, and has now caught the attention of Spurs supporters.

Finding the video online, one wrote: "Any other Tottenham fans here looking at his highlights to see if he's any good? Or is that just me?"

Others added that they were "praying he performs" and celebrating that the club "finally have a good keeper".

Meanwhile, Italian supporters dropped by to confirm: "For any Tottenham fans, yes he is good."

Vicario is set to rival Spurs first choice Hugo Lloris under Ange Postecoglou over the upcoming season after Daniel Levy fought off intense Italian competition for the star's signature.

Speaking when arriving at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the keeper said: “Yes, I’m excited. It’s a dream for me to be here, one of the biggest teams in England and in the Premier League. I’d like to start quickly, to join my teammates because, for me, it’s a big pleasure to be here.

“I want to learn a lot of things because the culture of football in Italy is so different. I need to adapt quickly to my teammates, to the style of play, so many differences between Italian football (and the Premier League). The fans are amazing as well, the buzz when you play well. I love this mentality.”
