London most exposed to rising rent costs

As housing costs have continued to increase since 2022 amid rising inflation and higher interest rates, Mobile Annexe LTD. analysed new ONS data to find the places most affected across the country.
Each area was assigned an exposure score, relative to other local authorities, based on “the estimated proportion of households affected by rising costs” and “the increase in costs as a proportion of estimated disposable income for the average household.”

When we switch over the mortgage exposure score, London came second, with a most common score of 4.
Gary Clayden-Smith, from Mobile Annexe LTD. who analysed the data, said: “The rise in costs is a big challenge facing many people across the country.
“It’s more than just a financial burden, it’s a source of stress, anxiety, and uncertainty for people trying to find stability in their lives.
