Some of London’s biggest stars including Cynthia Erivo and Eddie Redmayne, sported timeless floral-inspired looks on Monday (May 6) as they took to the Met Gala carpet.
One of the biggest nights in fashion, the Met Gala brings some of the world's most famous names together at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to raise money for The Costume Institute. The fashion event marked the launch of a new exhibition at the art space. Its latest display is titled Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion and will open to the public this Friday.
Honouring the theme of the new exhibition, the 2024 fashion event’s dress code was ‘The Garden of Time’, which was inspired by the 1962 short story of the same name by author JG Ballard..
One of the standout outfits of the night was Cynthia Erivo’s formal look, which was adorned with petals and bejewelled lady bugs and beetles. The Wicked actress, who hails from Stockwell, has attended the New York fashion event several times, having made her first appearance in 2016.
Raye, who made history at the 2024 Brit Awards earlier this year for winning six of the seven prizes for which she was nominated, made her Met Gala debut on Monday. The singer’s silver look featured strings of blooms hung from her skirt and gloves.
Here’s a look at some of the other Londoner looks from the prestigious night of fashion at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
