It will be the latest new addition to more than 300 shops in Oxford Street, which attracts around 200 million shoppers each year. Footasylum has more than 60 UK stores and stocks brands including Nike, Adidas, Jordan, The North Face and Zavetti.

Barry Bown, executive chairman and CEO of Footasylum, said: “Oxford Street is Europe’s busiest and best-known shopping street and, with Footasylum performing well, we’re hugely excited to have a flagship store at the heart of such an iconic retail destination.

“Our aim is for our unique and extensive branded streetwear offering to be widely available across the UK, and having bigger and better stores is a key part of that ambition. The new store will offer Oxford Street visitors an incredible shopping experience and take the Footasylum brand to the next level. We can’t wait to open our doors later this year.”

Footasylum recently announced plans to open a 6,000 sq ft store in Atria Watford, and has expanded its outlet in Westfield Stratford City. It is expanding at Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex and has opened a store in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire.

The company was bought from JD Sports by investment firm Aurelius Group in August for about £37.5 million.

At the time, Dirk Markus, founding partner of Aurelius, said: “Footasylum has long been a staple of the UK high street and go-to shop for customers seeking high-end branded sportswear. As a standalone business, Footasylum has the potential to become an innovative retailer of sportswear and we are eager to unlock the company’s full potential.

“We believe that Aurelius is ideally placed to support Footasylum’s transformation, which will be backed by our extensive operational expertise within the retail, digital and wholesale channels.”
