Here is the full list of planned TfL service changes this weekend, May 31 to June 2.

Londoners travelling into the capital this weekend could be faced with disruption due to closures on Tube and rail services.

Transport for London (TfL) has asked Londoners to check before they travel.

UEFA Championships final

On Saturday June 1, public transport is likely to be very busy, particularly on the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines as Wembley Stadium is hosting the UEFA Champions League final football match. 

The following stations are expected to be very busy:

  • Wembley Central

TfL says some short term safety measures such as queuing, trains non-stopping or changes to the way customers enter or exit a station may be necessary.

Central line

Saturday 1 and Sunday June 2

No service between North Acton and West Ruislip

Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes. Three rail replacement bus services will run. Valid tickets will also be accepted on Chiltern Railways services between Marylebone and West Ruislip. This is due to HS2 works.

London Overground

Saturday 1 and Sunday June 2

No service between Hackney Downs and Cheshunt/Enfield Town

Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes. All trains between Liverpool Street and Chingford will call at Cambridge Heath and London Fields, and will depart from Liverpool Street slightly earlier than usual. Tickets will be accepted on Greater Anglia services at Stratford, Tottenham Hale or Cheshunt stations. Rail replacement buses will run between Seven Sisters and Cheshunt/Enfield Town.

Sunday June 2

No service between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction until 9.30am

Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes. Southern Railway services will run normally all day.

No service between Kensington (Olympia) and Clapham Junction until 10.30am

Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes. Southern Railway services will run normally all day.

No service between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction

Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes. Rail replacement buses will run between Canada Water and Clapham Junction.

Monday 3 until Thursday June 6

No westbound service between Camden Road and Willesden Junction after 11.45pm each night

Use alternative Tube, London Overground services or local bus routes. 

Tuesday 4 until Friday June 7

No southbound service between Willesden Junction and Shepherd's Bush until 6.15am each day. Use local bus routes 220 or 228.

Elizabeth line

Saturday 1 and Sunday June 2

No service between Paddington and Abbey Wood, and between Whitechapel and Stratford

Elizabeth line services between Shenfield and Liverpool Street will call at Liverpool Street's national rail platforms, and services between Heathrow/Reading and Paddington will call at Paddington's national rail platforms.

Use alternative Tube, DLR services or local bus routes. For Abbey Wood, use London Southeastern Railway services. This is due to maintenance works.

Reduced service between Paddington and Maidenhead/Heathrow

This is due to HS2 works.

The last service from Heathrow T5 (0.07am) to Paddington will terminate at Ealing Broadway instead

This is due to HS2 works.

Sunday June 2

No service between Ealing Broadway and Heathrow T2/3 until 7am, and between Paddington and Ealing Broadway until 7.45am

Trains will not stop at Acton Main Line, Hanwell or West Ealing all day. Customers travelling to Heathrow from central London should use the Piccadilly line. This is due to HS2 works at Old Oak Common and Network Rail track work.

Monday 3 until Wednesday June 5

Reduced service between Ealing Broadway and Maidenhead/Heathrow T4 after 10pm each night

Trains will not be stopping at Acton Main Line, West Ealing and Hanwell from 11pm. This is due to Network Rail Thames Valley improvement works.

DLR

Saturday 1 until Monday June 3

DLR services will close one hour earlier than usual each evening

All DLR services will stop running at 10.30pm on Monday and Saturday, and will stop running at 10.30pm on Sunday. Customers should complete their journeys on the DLR by these times. Use local bus routes afterwards.

This closure will repeat on the following dates:

  • Thursday 6 to Monday June 10
  • Wednesday 12 until Saturday June 15
  • Friday 21 until Tuesday June 25

Buses and roads

UEFA Champions League Final

On Saturday June 1, Wembley Stadium will be hosting the UEFA Champions League final. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected around the stadium throughout the day.

The UEFA Champions Festival will take place in Trafalgar Square, Somerset House and Potters Field Park from Thursday May 30 until Sunday June 2.

It will also take place on Regent Street on Thursday 30 and Friday May 31 and the South Bank on Saturday 1 and Sunday June 2.

From Wednesday May 29 until Sunday June 2, some roads will be closed and there will be changes to how some bus routes and cycleways operate in central London.

Until September 2024

Farringdon Street

Farringdon Street will close due to major gas main replacement works.

Cadent Gas are carrying out these essential works as part of their wider programme to improve the gas network across London.

Farringdon Street will be closed northbound between Ludgate Circus and Charterhouse Street. Traffic will be diverted via Fleet Street, Fetter Lane, New Fetter Lane, Holborn Circus and Charterhouse Street. 

If you need to travel through the area, be aware that long queues and significant delays to your journey are expected, especially on the diversion route. There will also be some bus routes impacted by these works. 

HS2 A40 works

From 10PM on Monday May 27 until late October, the A40 Western Avenue will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between Hanger Lane and Alperton Lane. Additional overnight lane restrictions and some directional closures will also be needed.

Plan ahead, use alternative routes and check before you travel. This is while HS2 continue work to build a new High Speed rail line between London and Birmingham.

Thursday May 30

The Oval

The Oval cricket ground will be hosting the England vs Pakistan cricket match with play starting at 2.30pm. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected before and after the match.

Friday May 31 until Sunday June 2

Barking

The High Lights Festival will be taking place at Barking Park from 2pm until 11.30pm on Friday and Saturday, and until 10.30pm on Sunday. Large crowds, increased traffic levels and delays are expected during the event.

Blackwall Tunnel

From 0.01am on Saturday 1 until 5am on Monday June 3, Blackwall Tunnel will be closed southbound. This is while works continue to complete the new road layout, as part of the Silvertown Tunnel construction. 

The tunnel will remain open to northbound traffic during these times.

TfL expects roads and alternative river crossings in east and central London to be extremely busy with long delays to your journey. Queues along the A13 westbound between Canning Town and Whitechapel and on the approaches to Rotherhithe Tunnel are expected throughout the weekend. 

Saturday June 1

O2 Arena

From 6.30pm until 10.30pm, the O2 Arena will be hosting Peter Kay Live. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected. 

Saturday 1 and Sunday June 2

On Saturday 1 and Sunday June 2, Brockwell Park will be hosting the Mighty Hoopla festival event. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected during the event.
