Londoners are set to have a sunny bank holiday weekend as the capital warms up after its recent cold snap, according to the Met Office

The meteorological service’s seven-day forecast has temperatures expected to near 20C in London over the May three-day holiday.

Sunday, in particular, is set to be the hottest day over the weekend, peaking at 19C.

The May Day bank holiday weekend is set to have an overcast start in the capital as grey clouds line the city’s skies. By lunchtime the sun is expected to make an appearance and continue to shine in intervals across the afternoon.

Sunday, May 5 

Sunny spells are set to follow on Sunday with the sun expected to shine its brightest in the late afternoon as it breaks through the clouds. Over the day London temperatures are set to peak just under 20C.

Monday, May 6

The May Day bank holiday Monday will bring more warm temperatures in the capital. Starting off overcast, clouds will continue to line the city’s skies across the day.
