Arsenal once again revisit their interest in the Premier League star but it hinges on one factor

Arsenal are reportedly once again looking into signing Wolverhampton Wanderers star Pedro Neto and it is said a request has already been made, inquiring as to the winger’s medical data ahead of a potential bid.

According to the latest news on Football Transfers, Mikel Arteta is hopeful of signing the Portuguese winger as he builds up his squad ahead of another campaign to try and wrestle the Premier League title off Manchester City. However, the bid will only be made if medical tests can prove Neto’s fitness.

Neto, 24, missed large portions of the previous two seasons through hamstring issues but, despite not featuring for much of the 2023/24 campaign, managed to become one of Wolves’ best players in the season. He scored two goals and contributed nine further assists in 20 Premier League appearances.

Arsenal are hopeful this form can be carried down to north London but only if they can be assured that the winger can be less of an injury liability.

Arteta is already reportedly eyeing up the Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams in order to relieve Bukayo Saka of the growing pressure on the flanks and it would appear Neto - who can play on either wing - may offer a more realistic transfer opportunity.

The reports indicate that Wolves have significantly brought down Neto’s price tag. As they attempt to balance the books in order to comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations, the club are aware they may have to sacrifice some of their more valuable stars in order to avoid any potential points deductions.

Arsenal had been told in January they would need to cough up £80 million if they wished to steal Neto away from the Molineux Stadium but this figure now appears to have dropped to £43m. Either way, Wolves would be set to receive a significant profit on the £15m they paid to Lazio for the nine-time Portuguese international back in 2019.

While Arsenal and Wolves battle out the medical complications, Neto is currently representing Portugal in the ongoing European Championships and most recently came off the bench to play the second-half of his nation’s 3-0 win over Turkey.
