Chelsea star sends Mauricio Pochettino playing time message ahead of vital Arsenal game

Chelsea's Malo Gusto is determined to keep Reece James out as much as he can as he returns from suspension.

Chelsea defender Malo Gusto is itching to get his 'healthy' rivalry with Reece James going after the international break with both players available after injury and suspension respectively.

Gusto has played more than he would have anticipated when he first signed for the club in a £30million move from Lyon, but the injury to captain James on the opening day of the season meant he was thrown straight away.

He impressed with his fight, speed and tackling before a sending-off against Aston Villa meant he sat out the last three games. Ironically, James picked up a further one-match ban after protesting Gusto's sending-off in the tunnel at the Stamford Bridge.

Both will now look to impress manager Mauricio Pochettino in training as they look to get the nod to start against Arsenal in a vital league game. The French defender on international told RMC Sport: “We give each other a lot of advice, he tries to help me and I try to help him as best I can. On the pitch, it’s war, he knows it very well.

“We don’t necessarily do each other any favours and simply the best player will play.”

Gusto made a name for himself at Lyon, progressing from the second team and playing 47 league games before Chelsea came calling. He's also impressed the Chelsea fans whenever he's engaged the press, and aged just 20, there is certainly all indication that it won't be long before he's at the top of his game and proving the investment right.
