Gabon International is getting close to bringing an end to his one-year stay in west London after agreeing a deal with Marseille.

Chelsea forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is undergoing a medical with French side Marseille with Chelsea waving off a £5miliion fee they wanted for him.

The Blues are happy to get his £150,000-a-week wages off the books as they look to rebuild a team that had a massive injection of £600million since the takeover but could only finish 12th in the league table.

The 34-year-old was signed for around £12million on a two-year deal but the nightmare started when Thomas Tuchel, the manager who signed him was fired just days after he arrived at the club. He managed just 59 minutes under Tuchel.

He would go on to score only just one goal in 15 league games and was left out of the Champions League knockout squad by Graham Potter.

The Gabon international despite being at Chelsea for just a season had four managers and none gave him a consistent run in the team.

Aubameyang turned down moves to Saudi Arabia and the United States to continue his career in Europe and he’s had to take a massive pay cut to make the deal happen as he looks to stay in shape and be ready for the next year’s Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in the Ivory Coast.

He was left out of the Chelsea team currently in the United States preparing to take on Welsh side Wrexham in their first-ever match under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Blues will be delighted with the fact almost 12 players including previously untouchable names like Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic have all left the team, giving the new boss a new chance to build something new.
