Chelsea player ratings: Azpilicueta and Mount miss crucial kicks as Liverpool win first FA Cup in 16 years

Chelsea lose FA Cup to Liverpool at Wembley after a heroic performance from the European Champions.

Chelsea put up a spirited performance but ultimately lost on penalties 5-6 to Liverpool in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

The defeat now means the Blues become the first side to lose three consecutive FA Cup finals and have also now lost their last five Cup finals at Wembley.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have now also lost both Cup finals they made this season on penalties which will leave them gutted despite a strong performance again at Wembley.

Midfielder Mount has also now lost his last five penalty shoot out at Wembley counting from his time at Derby, England and the two Cup finals with Chelsea this season.

In what was a very fast start from Liverpool, they created most of the chances in the first few minutes of the game before Chelsea adjusted and ended the first half as the strong side even though a little bit of good decision making would have seen them take the lead.

But after the goalless draw at extra time it was Liverpool who emerged as winners on penalties on 6-5 with Mount and Azpilicueta missing their kicks .

Chelsea can take respite from the fact that they played well and were ultimately undone by the luck of the penalty kick.

Here is how we rated every Chelsea player at Wembley.
