Chelsea set to hand Enzo Maresca major transfer boost but Manchester City are the biggest threat to the coup

Chelsea have been permitted to approach Michael Olise with talks ongoing.

Chelsea intend to splash the cash again this summer, with their main target being Crystal Palace star Michael Olise, who had 16 goal contributions in the 19 games he played for the Eagles.

Last summer, the Blues tried to sign him, but the French forward and his entourage decided it was best for him to stay in south London for another season, with Palace determined to protect their asset by offering him a new four-year deal.

LondonWorld understands Chelsea are willing to get the deal done as soon as possible, with Manchester City lurking behind the scenes to pounce. Palace sources are adamant Olise will not leave the club this summer but added that every player in the world has a price and they would ensure they exact the maximum amount if he were to leave Selhurst Park.

Other Premier League clubs like Liverpool, Newcastle, and Manchester United have all shown interest, which is music to Steve Parish and the Crystal Palace board as they look to drive up the price of the 22-year-old and dominate negotiations.

Whoever is lucky enough to sign him will have to pay a club-record fee, as his release clause is higher than the £50million Manchester United paid for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Chelsea have a new manager in Enzo Maresca, and the signing of Olise would give him a significant boost to start his tenure at the club, with the French forward having immense Premier League experience and the incredible ability to score, assist, and decide games.

In the last two transfer windows, the Blues have splashed the cash, but crucially they have done so intelligently, with Olise’s amortisation not set to kick in until 1st July, thus ensuring it will be accounted for in next season’s financial statement. LondonWorld understands that Newcastle have the cash to spend this summer, although it remains to be seen if Olise would be willing to give up London to move to Tyneside.
