Real Madrid are favourites to win their 15th Champions League trophy when they take on Dortmund tonight.

Former Chelsea star Geremi Njitap says Real Madrid will win the Champions League final tonight because winning Europe’s biggest trophy is what players go to the Spanish capital to do.

The Cameroonian who spent four seasons as a Chelsea player also played at Madrid where he won the Champions League twice amongst other trophies. Now working with the Confederation of African Football and one of Chelsea’s African ambassadors, he admitted the game will be tight even though he expects Madrid to win it.

He told Responsible Gambling: "They have won it several times but continue to have the same level of hunger in them due to the manager but also their individual grit and determination.

"The Champions League is why we all went to Real Madrid, it's like the obsession of everyone and if you wear that famous white shirt then you have to be able to produce on a night like the Champions League night.

"It's like a birthright. If you look at the best players in the world, they all came to Madrid for a night like the Champions League night, and this current crop have just taken everything to the next level.”

Dortmund finished fifth in the German Bundesliga this season and are massive underdogs for the game but Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti also admitted his players would fear the fear of the final when they take to the pitch later today.

He told the BBC: "A Champions League final is the most important game and the most dangerous one.

“You have to be a bit lucky, play well and never lower your guard but when you reach a final success is so close that you start worrying.”
