'It's not magic': Mauricio Pochettino says Chelsea project was always right and reveals why

Chelsea once again emerged victorious in a sensational game against Tottenham to keep European ambitions alive.

Chelsea continued their strong home form with a 2-0 win against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge with goals from Trevoh Chalobah and Nicolas Jackson sealing a deserved win for the Blues

The win means Chelsea have only lost one in their last 17 home games and more importantly kept alive their hopes of finishing in a European spot. They have now gone ahead of West Ham into eighth on the league table.

Given they were without 14 first-team players and almost 10 players all season, manager Mauricio Pochettino says their position on the league table and the performance was proof that they were progressing.

He told reporters after the game at Stamford Bridge: “Despite all the negative circumstances, this shows we're doing things well. The whole team was connected. We always said we needed time and some luck. It's not a magic thing. If you want that, go find [David] Copperfield and bring him here."

This was a night of positives for Chelsea, Noni Madueke who started the season with doubts was a constant menace, his dancing feet causing unending problems for Emerson Royal playing at left back for for Spurs.

Then there was the ever-improving Jackson, he stretched the Tottenham back line, linked up play well and deserved his goal to crown off another impressive performance individually and collectively.

There is a big chance that Christopher Nkunku and Levi Colwill will return for the game against West Ham this weekend so he will have better options in his squad than he did tonight. This has been a challenging campaign for the west London club with so many highs and lows but if they can secure European football then they would have squeezed water from a stone.
