Chelsea will be without Conor Gallagher who was sent off against Brighton but they have seven other players missing due to injury.

Chelsea returned to winning ways against Brighton over the weekend and will look to go on a run when they visit Manchester United who were woeful against Newcastle United.

Manager Erik ten Hag is under pressure but his opposite number on the day Mauricio Pochettino isn't overachieving either. The Blues though go into the game at the back of a win that eases the pressure and with a chance to now close in on a European spot.

They will have to do that without some of their more established names with the club confirming Lesley Ugochukwu and Noni Madueke have been added to the injury list. Mauricio Pochettino also confirmed Christopher Nkunku was close to being fully fit ahead of Brighton even though he opted to leave him out entirely in the 3-2 win and he's not been left of the injury list today.

The Chelsea boss told reporters ahead of Brighton: "They are very close but we need to assess them tomorrow and see ahead of the game.

"I can say that Nkunku is more likely than Romeo in this state but they are both very close and we just have to take a second look and see how it goes.

As it turned out none of them were involved but it didn't matter as Chelsea produced a more resilient performance to secure only their second home win of the season in the league.

The good news

It's not all bad news though with captain Reece James returning after serving his one-game suspension following his sending-off against Newcastle in the Premier League.

Left-back Marc Cucurella is also back which gives manager Pochettino the chance to make changes to the team that beat Brighton.

They will however be missing Conor Gallagher who has been involved in every league game this season following his sending-off against Brighton last weekend. Pochettino could also be tempted to give Thiago Silva a rest.
