England squad leaked amid surprise Euro 2024 call-ups for Crystal Palace stars

Crystal Palace are expected to be hit with a flurry of call-ups to the England squad ahead of Euro 2024 this summer.

The official pre-Euro training squad will be announced by Gareth Southgate and England at 2 pm today but early reports suggest it could be good news for Crystal Palace stars. The London outfit finished the season in fine form, unbeaten in their final seven outings as Oliver Glasner lifted his side to 10th place in the Premier League.

According to Daily Mail reporter Sami Mokbel, there will be four Crystal Palace players in Southgate's squad. Those are Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi, Adam Wharton and Dean Henderson.

Eze, who has 11 goals and six assists in all competitions this season, scored five of those goals since April. He has two senior England caps to his name and the call-up will be a big achievement having missed out of the provisional squad of Euro 2020 due to injury.

Speaking about the player's England chances this summer, Glasner recently said: “He would deserve being nominated for the Euros. It’s Gareth Southgate’s decision. I know Ebs – I see all his qualities, how hard he works in training and how he listens to our support when we tell him that he can maybe improve positionally or with the defending.

“I believe he deserves it, but I don’t know every other player who plays in the same position. When you nominate 26 players, it’s not so good to nominate 26 offensive players. Maybe they all deserve it because they are fantastic players, but you need a balance in the team."

Marc Guehi has been one of the Premier League's most consistent defenders this term and already has nine England caps to his name. Meanwhile Dean Henderson, who didn't play a single league match before December, also missed out on the Euro 2020 squad due to injury and has just one senior England appearance to his name.

The inclusion of midfielder Adam Wharton in the pre-Euro squad is potentially one of the most head-turning decisions by Southgate. The midfielder was fighting relegation with Blackburn Rovers in the Championship until February, when he moved to Crystal Palace.

Since arriving at Selhurst Park, his purring performances have earned plaudits and clearly impressed the England set-up. Wharton only received his first call-up to the England under-21 side in March and is yet to make his senior debut.
