The Leeds United enjoyed an impressive breakthrough campaign at Elland Road last season in the Championship.

Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of completing a deal for talented Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray with latest reports confirming that the 18-year-old has passed his medical with the London outfit.

That's according to Sky Sports, with the outlet suggesting that the transfer is progressing rapidly as the weeks tick down to the start of the Premier League season. Despite personal terms being agreed and a medical completed, a fee is still to be settled between the two sides.

Leeds United had rejected an initial £35 million bid from Spurs' London rivals Brentford on Saturday, with Thomas Frank's side early frontrunners to sign the England under-21 star. However, it is now Tottenham Hotspur who are expected to bring Gray to London.

The midfielder enjoyed a breakthrough season at Elland Road last term, making 52 appearances in all competitions. His confidence and neat work in the centre of the park turned heads as Premier League suitors lined up to strike a deal with the Yorkshire outfit after Daniel Farke's team narrowly failed to clinch a return to the top flight.

Gray is the son of former Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and Burnley striker Archie Gray and first appeared in a first team squad at the age of 15 when on the bench against Arsenal in 2021.

It is believed that the player had travelled to west London to complete a medical at Brentford on Saturday before a deal broke down between the Bees and Whites over how payments would be structured. Spurs are expected to sweeten their own £35 million bid by sending defender Joe Rodon to Leeds United as part of the deal - the Welshman spent last season on loan in Yorkshire.

The BBC reports that Liverpool and Chelsea are also interested in Gray and ready to swoop should the ongoing transfer saga hit another hurdle between Leeds United and Spurs.
