Arsenal eye Manchester City target and offer ‘prominent’ role to the Brazilian star

Arsenal have promised to give the Real Madrid forward Rodrgyo a prominent role if he joins the Emirates Stadium club in the summer transfer window, according to reports in Spain via TEAMTalk.

The Gunners are not shy of transfer options with the likes of Eberechi Eze, Nico Williams, Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen all linked with moves to N7 but Brazilian star Rodrygo is now the latest to be linked with a transfer as Mikel Arteta hopes to finally win the 2024/25 Premier League title race.

With the imminent arrival of Kylian Mcbappe at Real Madrid potentially knocking the Brazilian 23-year-old winger down in Carlo Ancelotti’s pecking order, Rodrygo may well be seeking more consistent game time elsewhere and reports in Spain have indicated that the Spanish head coach has ‘promised’ Rodrygo he ‘will be the star of Arsenal’ if he were to join. It is noted that Arteta would need Rodrygo to ‘betray’ Real Madrid first.

The reports add that the Brazilian “could consider a change of scenery in search of a team where he can play a leading role” and a “promise of a prominent role in Arsenal’s scheme could be decisive.”

These reports come after claims that Manchester City have drawn up a ‘bombshell’ scheme in which they would swap Rodrgyo for Kevin de Bruyne and Julian Alvarez.

Rodrgyo headed to Los Blancos in 2019 for a fee of €45 million (£38m) and his contract is set to expire next summer. He has gone on to make nearly 150 La Liga appearances and been ranked among the best right-wingers in the world. The in-demand star made his Brazilian debut at just 18-years-old and already has 24 international caps to his name with six goals. He is currently involved in the Copa America, most recently starting in Brazil’s 0-0 draw with Chile on Tuesday (25 June).

It is not yet known whether Real Madrid would be willing to part with their Brazilian star or, indeed, how much they would be asking for his signature but Rodrgyo currently has a mighty market value price of £93 million.
