The West Ham star has been linked with a move away from the club after just one year.

West Ham star Edson Alvarez appears to have sent the club and supporters a three-word hint amid speculation over his future at the club.

The midfielder only joined the Hammers last summer, when he completed a £35.4 million move from Ajax. In his first campaign at the London Stadium, Alvarez impressed with dominant performances in the centre of the park, despite a poor disciplinary record that saw him pick up 17 yellow cards in all competitions.

The 26-year-old is just one year into his five-year deal at West Ham but there have been rumours that the player could quit the club this summer. Alvarez has readily spoken about almost joining Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund last year and has admitted 'you never know what's going on' when asked about the summer ahead at West Ham.

Some outlets reported that the club's failure to secure another season of European football could be a motivating factor for the player to push for an early exit.

Nonetheless, in a new social media post, the defensive midfielder appeared to hint that he remains committed to the West Ham project, which will come as a relief for Julen Lopetegui and Hammers supporters. Sharing a highlights reel of his performances for West Ham and Mexico last season, Alvarez wrote: "Hungry for more?"

The midfielder was praised by former West Ham boss David Moyes during his first season at the club but was reprimanded publicly for his yellow card record in April. The Scotsman said: "I think the intensity and the speed is probably where he’s still getting used to the Premier League. For us, we’ve not got such a big squad where we can afford too many people to be out.

“We lost him earlier in the season through suspension, we’ve had him out now and we’ll lose him for the game in Leverkusen in midweek as well. It begins to have an effect on you that you’re losing him for so many games.

“He’s been booked too often. We need to try and find a way where he doesn’t put himself in that situation because it affects the team and it has done in recent weeks.”
