Good news as food hygiene ratings given to 11 City of London establishments

A Food Standards Agency rating sticker on a window of a restaurant in central London. A huge variation in food hygiene standards remains across the UK, with one in five high or medium-risk food outlets failing to meet standards, according to a study.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to 11 of City of London’s establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them all.

Restaurants, cafes and canteens

The following ratings have been given to six restaurants, cafes or canteens:

• Rated 5: Dashwood House Cafe, Land Securities at Retail Unit Dashwood House, 69 Old Broad Street, London; rated on October 4

• Rated 5: Pickwick Coffee Club at 110 Fleet Street, London; rated on October 4

• Rated 5: Notes Gherkin at Retail Unit 1, 30 St Mary Axe, London; rated on October 3

• Rated 5: Baxterstorey, Amazon at 60 Holborn Viaduct, London; rated on October 2

• Rated 5: Pizza Express at 20-22 Leadenhall Market, London; rated on September 26

• Rated 5: Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars at Blackfriars House, 19 New Bridge Street, London; rated on September 14

Pubs, bars and nightclubs

And four ratings have been handed to pubs, bars or nightclubs:

• Rated 5: The Phoenix at Retail Unit, 26 Throgmorton Street, London; rated on October 5

• Rated 5: Slug And Lettuce at 29 St Mary Axe, London; rated on October 3
