The capital has had a few rainy days this week but will the wet weather continue over the May Day bank holiday weekend?

The May Day Bank holiday is almost upon us, but can Londoners expect rain over the three day holiday?

As city locals across the capital log off from work for the bank holiday weekend, many will no doubt be hoping for sunny weather across the long break.

However, following the last few days of rain in the city, the sunny weather may just be paired with some showers.

Here’s the latest Met Office weather forecast for the May Day bank holiday weekend.

Will it rain in London this May Day bank holiday weekend?

The Met Office’s forecast for Saturday (May 4) shows rain is likely in the early evening. According to the meteorological service Londoners could expect rainfall from 6pm until around 8pm.

While no rain is expected on Sunday (May 5) currently, The Met Office has forecast Monday (May 6) to have light showers in the early afternoon and again in the evening.

Saturday, May 4

The May Day bank holiday weekend is set to have a cloudy start but by lunchtime the sun is expected to make an appearance and continue to shine in intervals across the afternoon. The early evening is expected to bring rain.

Lows: 9C

Sunday, May 5 

Sunny spells will kick off Sunday but the sun is expected to hide behind the clouds over the afternoon. 

Highs: 17C

Lows: 11C

Monday, May 6

Clouds will also line the capital’s skies across the May Day bank holiday Monday. Light showers will follow just after lunch and return in the early evening.

Highs: 16C

Lows: 10C
