Chelsea have jumped ahead of Brighton and Hove Albion in the race to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Chelsea have opened talks with Leicester to sign midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and could include Datro Fofana in getting the deal done, according to Leicester Mercury. Leicester City could sell their star midfielder in the next 48 hours as they bid to comply with PSR.

Brighton were reportedly interested in him, but the deal collapsed over Dewsbury-Hall’s unwillingness to move to the Seagulls. That development has now reportedly led to Chelsea showing strong interest and intent to reunite him with manager Enzo Maresca, who moved from the King Power to Stamford Bridge this summer.

The 25-year-old midfielder scored 12 goals in the Championship and made 14 assists as the Foxes made an instant return to the Premier League after suffering relegation. Chelsea are understood to have also mentioned Fofana, who joined the club for £10 million, as part of the deal as both clubs look to find a deal that ensures they stay within PSR rules this season.

Fofana spent last season first on loan with Union Berlin, playing in the Champions League, before switching to Burnley for the second half of the campaign after a difficult spell in Germany.

At Turf Moor, he scored four goals in 15 Premier League appearances before the wheels came off for Vincent Kompany’s side.

In other transfer news, Chelsea have an agreement in principle for a deal to sign 18-year-old Barcelona forward Marc Guiu. The teenager is expected to be given a chance to train with the first team before a decision is made on whether he should stay or go out on loan to Strasbourg in France.

Chelsea are also looking to sell players like Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah as they aim to raise funds that would be used in strengthening the team ahead of next season.
