Tottenham have held talks with Aston Villa as they look to sign one of their stars.

Tottenham have seen a bid of £20 million for Jacob Ramsey, plus Giovani Lo Celso, knocked back by Aston Villa, according to a report on talkSPORT. The Lilywhites are carefully looking to strengthen their team with Europa League football added to their rota.

Ramsey has been with the Villans since the age of six, spending his entire career with the club, barring one spell in League One with Doncaster Rovers. Unai Emery’s side have already made big moves in the transfer window, signing Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen for a reported fee of £37 million. They also brought in Lewis Dobbin this summer transfer window, signing the Everton youngster for an undisclosed fee.

Spurs thought adding Lo Celso, 28, who has worked under current Villa manager Unai Emery, would have sweetened the deal, but they’ve turned down the bid, holding out for more. Spurs are left to consider whether they should return with an improved bid or look elsewhere.

Spurs looking to raise competition for James Maddison:

LondonWorld has been told Spurs are looking to give manager Ange Postecoglou options in the middle of the park after their form took a hit following the injury to Maddison.

The former Leicester and England midfielder had a storming start to life in north London last season, but injuries and a drop in form meant he never looked dangerous once he returned from an ankle injury he suffered.

With more games and heightened expectations for the Lilywhites to achieve great things under their Australian manager, Spurs are looking for a midfielder who can play in multiple positions. Pierre-Emile Højbjerg has interest from elsewhere in Europe, and Spurs will look to replace him if he decides to seek a new challenge this season.

The Lilywhites have already made moves with the signing of Timo Werner and Lucas Bergvall from Djurgarden for £8.5 million.
