Attacker latest

Chelsea have been linked with a swoop for Lille attacker Jonathan David. In this latest update regarding the player’s future, Sky Sports claim they will need to see off competition from West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United if they are to land his signature.

The Canada international has hinted in the past that he would be keen on a move to the Premier League. He has said: “In England, when I watch the matches, everything is full each time. As a player, it motivates you even more.

“I don't know, I think it's possible, very possible. I don't know if I can find myself anywhere other than the Premier League. It could well be the Premier League. It's a very nice atmosphere.”

“We will have to see. The Premier League is the best league in the world and I think every player would want to play there some day.”

The 24-year-old has made 49 caps for Canada and could be seen by Chelsea as someone to add more competition and depth to their attacking department.

He moved over to Europe as a youngster to join Genk in 2018 and subsequently broke into the first-team of the Belgian outfit.

The forward fired 37 goals in 83 outings for the Pro League team before Lille swooped to land him in 2020.

David has since carried his form over to France and has chipped in with 84 goals in 183 games.

The Blues have been linked but they may need to see off competition from West Ham, Spurs and United which won’t be easy.

Target latest

Reporter Fabrizio Romano has written in his Daily Briefing that Chelsea are ‘on a mission’ to land Aaron Anselmino from Boca Juniors. He has been identified as someone to boost their defensive ranks.

Romano has claimed: “In defence, Chelsea remain on a mission to sign Aaron Anselmino. Chelsea keep working on that, they are in active talks with Boca Juniors.

“Despite Manchester United also being linked, for now we will have to wait and see if other clubs will enter the race. For now, talks are with Chelsea and they are trying to find a solution under the value of the release clause.

“Many people talk very highly of his potential, but of course he’s still very young, so it would be another signing for the future for Chelsea.”

Anselmino, who is 19-years-old, has a bright future ahead of him in the game. He has risen up through the ranks at Boca and they won’t want to lose him. However, it would be hard for them to stand in the way of him moving to Chelsea.
