Chelsea are keeping tabs on all players on international duty and those enjoying their holidays.

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson had to fly into London to have his injury checked before returning to Senegal to continue his holiday. The £30 million signing from last summer picked up an injury while playing for his country in a World Cup qualifier against DR Congo. He subsequently missed the game against Mauritania.

The Telegraph reported that Jackson had to return to London for a check-up on the ankle injury for the club to assess its severity before he returned to his home country to continue his holiday.

There is firm conviction that the striker will be fit enough to start preseason and get a smooth take-off under newly appointed manager Enzo Maresca.

Last season, Jackson led the line brilliantly for Chelsea, scoring 17 league goals as Mauricio Pochettino’s side rallied from a disappointing start to the season to finish an impressive sixth in the league. More impressive is the fact that he missed close to a month due to his involvement in the AFCON and was one of the few Chelsea starters who did not miss a chunk of games due to injury.

Chelsea closing in on signing another striker

Chelsea have been busy speaking to players behind the scenes as they look to strengthen the team. They are closing in on signing Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran. The club has been given the go-ahead to speak to the Colombian striker, with a deal of £40 million reportedly being discussed. They have also been strongly linked with Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise. Last summer, they attempted to sign the forward before the 22-year-old decided against a move and instead signed a new four-year deal at the club
