Chelsea have now moved to book a medical for 26-year-old Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo to replace Thiago Silva.

Incoming Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has agreed for the club to move on and sign defender Tosin Adarabioyo who he worked with briefly at Manchester City, LondonWorld has been told.

Chelsea only made their first contact with the player last month and have now been able to turn his head to reject bids from both Newcastle United and Tottenham. Instead, he'll move to west London as LondonWorld reported last week.

The defender who came through the ranks at Manchester City is now expected to sign a five-year deal at Chelsea and a medical has been booked for him to undergo a medical next week before signing his deal. Tosin has always wanted to play for a massive club and at Chelsea he will get the chance to compete with some of the best youngsters around.

The move will be a massive blow, especially to Newcastle United who were looking to add him to their squads as a free agent as they navigate tight Premier League sustainability rules that have seen them struggle to replace injured players adequately last season.

Tosin has always had a soft spot for Chelsea as has been evidenced by some of his Tweets with the 26-year-old praising Drogba during the 2012 Champions League final.

He Tweeted back then on a platform, now called X: "Drogba is an absolute badman though, I love him, he’s a monster of a striker!"

Chelsea looking to do business as a new era begins

Chelsea are also hoping to announce manager Maresca next week after agreeing a deal with him to replace the departed Mauricio Pochettino last week.

Once that is out of the way, they now get to the business of selling players with the likes of Ian Maatsen, Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah all likely to leave the club this summer.

They are also targeting a new goalkeeper, a striker and a midfielder to strengthen ahead of what should be an interesting season.
