Fulham have announced Tosin Adarabioyo has left the club after three full seasons.

Chelsea have completed the signing of Tosin Adarabioyo as earlier reported by LondonWorld and Fulham have sealed it with the statement that the 26-year-old has left the club.

Fulham had tried to convince him to renew his deal while Newcastle were front runners until Chelsea jumped in and got the deal across the line. Sources have said he turned down a £100k-a-week wage from Eddie Howe’s side to move to Stamford Bridge

The 26-year-old wants to play at the highest level and Chelsea can provide him with Europa Conference League football while Newcastle missed out on European football entirely by the skin of their teeth due to Manchester United winning the FA Cup

A Fulham statement read: “Tosin joined the Club on deadline day at the start of the 2020/21 season, and quickly established himself as a key member of Scott Parker’s side.

“While that campaign ended in disappointment, the following year was far more prosperous, with Tosin named in the PFA& EFL Teams of the Season as Fulham won the league.

“He continued to be a regular presence in our backline as the team comfortably secured Premier League safety in each of the subsequent two campaigns. Tosin also chipped in with his share of goals, scoring five times in his 132 matches.”

Announcement and busy summer ahead

The former Manchester City defender began his medical on Monday but ultimately ended on Tuesday with the club now working behind the scenes to announce what will be the first signing under manager Enzo Maresca

He comes in to replace Thiago Silva and provides height to the defensive line, the ability to pass from the back which is key to the way the new manager wants to play and with over 100 Premier League appearances under his belt.

The Blues also have interest in Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise and hoping to beat Manchester United and clubs in Europe to his signature.
