Crystal Palace eye former Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford target as they prepare for life without Michael Olise

Crystal Palace are reportedly back in contention to sign Club Brugge’s Antonio Nusa as they prepare for the departure of Michael Olise.

Olise, 22, is said to be nearing a deal with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich but, while the winger’s absence will be hugely felt within the squad, it does mean Oliver Glasner will have around £50million extra to play with this transfer window.

A fresh report from the Belgian media has since claimed that the Selhurst Park side are now back in contact to sign Nusa - who had been of huge interest to Palace’s London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the last transfer window. The journalist Sacha Tavolieri, as reported by Sport Witness, has said that the Crystal Palace board have ‘reconnected’ with the player’s entourage in the past few hours.

The intention is supposedly to learn more about Nusa’s hopes for the summer with the report suggesting the Eagles are taking the ‘temperature’ for a potential transfer. No offer has, as yet, been made to Brugge but with the Belgian side well aware of the Eagles’ interest, they have set a €30 million (£25m) price for Nusa’s signature.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano also added fuel to the fire by taking to X to say: “Understood Antonio Nusa is one of the names on Crystal Palace shortlist to replace Michael Olise. Palace are assessing options as Olise will move to Bayern.”

The Norwegian winger, 19, started his career with Stabaek before moving to Club Brugge in 2021. He has since gone on to make 59 league appearances and produced four goals and four assists in 46 appearances for the Belgian side last season. The starlet, who also has seven caps and one goal for the Norwegian international side, was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur or Brentford in January. A move to the latter fell through, however, after the winger failed a medical.

In 2022, Nusa was described by Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig as being comparable to Kylian Mbappe, rating the winger’s potential as 9.5 out of ten. Palace’s club director Dougie Freedman has an impressive record of picking up the next young talents and turning them into superstars - with Olise a prime example - and it would appear Nusa perfectly fits such a description.
