Crystal Palace are looking to strengthen their team ahead of next season’s league campaign, but have to sell first.

Crystal Palace are now open to selling French striker Odsonne Edouard this summer to raise funds as they look to build a team capable of competing for a top-half finish next season.

The 26-year-old forward joined the Eagles from Celtic where he made  179 appearances and won 11 trophies that led to Palace going all out for him under Patrick Vieira. But since he moved to south London two seasons ago, he's made 101 appearances and scored 21 times.

Edouard started the first game under new boss Oliver Glasner but lost his place to Jean-Philippe Mateta who ended up scoring 13 goals in the 13 games he played under the revolutionary Eagles boss.

LodnonWorld has been told manager Glasner is targetting a new striker and hopes the sale of Edouard for a fee in the region of £20million will be enough to bring a new face to push Mateta to the next level.

The climax of the last campaign was one of the best in recent history for the Eagles who won six of their last seven games to finish above Brighton and Hove Albion

Mateta could potentially be away for the start of the Premier League season after he was named as one of three overage players in Thierry Henry’s France Olympic squad, so in the case they sell Edouard, they will have to bring in someone early to be ready or keep Jordan Ayew who barely started the moment Glasner walked through the door.

Palace looking to challenge the establishment

The strong finish to the season the Eagles had has fuelled the belief that they can go on to fight for a top-half finish like sworn rivals Brighton did under Graham Potter and Roberto de Zerbi

Manager Glasner won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2021 and has been keen to transform the club from being happy to just be in the Premier League to a club pushing teams for a European spot and playing an attractive brand of football.
