Luton Town will be keen on an immediate return to the Premier League having enjoyed their time last season.

Luton Town have joined a long list of Championship sides looking to sign Jesurun Rak-Sakyi from Crystal Palace this summer. The forward made only six Premier League appearances last season, scoring four times in the Premier League Two. For a player who bagged 15 goals while on loan with Charlton Athletic in the 2022/2023 season, he’ll be eager to play more.

Last summer, then Palace manager Roy Hodgson blocked a loan move to Southampton, considering Rak-Sakyi a key part of the first team. However, injuries and form meant he was almost always on the sidelines.

The Football League is reporting that Luton Town manager Rob Edwards is keen on bringing the 21-year-old to Kenilworth Road to aid his development and help Luton qualify for the Premier League. Blackburn Rovers are also interested in the Palace forward, although Southampton, previously strongly linked to him, have cooled their interest lately.

Palace Need to Get Rak-Sakyi’s Development Right

When the 21-year-old first broke into the first team, many saw him as the next Wilfried Zaha. However, Palace did not have the time to give him in the first team, leading to his loan move to Charlton. At Charlton, he was the absolute star man in the league, bagging 15 goals and providing eight assists. The key was to get the next step right, but Palace turned down all advances from Championship sides, resulting in Rak-Sakyi playing just six league games.

Part of that was also due to an injury he picked up. This coming season will be pivotal for him as he looks to fulfill his enormous potential. The Eagles are set to lose Michael Olise, and there is strong interest from Tottenham for Eberechi Eze, so Palace are likely to reserve any final decision on Rak-Sakyi at least until after pre-season.
