A deal between Newcastle United and Everton has collapsed, opening the path for other Premier League sides.

West Ham and Brentford could look to reignite summer transfer interest in Everton talisman Dominic Calvert-Lewin after the striker's imminent move to Newcastle United has today fallen through in dramatic fashion.

The 27-year-old had been set to swap Goodison Park for St James' Park as the Magpies closed in on their long-term target. The Shields Gazette reports that the club has been monitoring Calvert-Lewin since 2021 but a deal believed to be worth nearly £37 million has now collapsed.

The forward has just one year left on his current Toffees deal and scored seven league goals last term. It was an important transfer for the Tyneside club, with winger Yankuba Minteh expected to move to Merseyside.

The 19-year-old was bought for £7 million last summer but is not part of first team plans and would represent a healthy profit if sold. Newcastle United are one of the Premier League clubs facing a race against the clock to meet PSR regulations come the end of the month.

The Magpies are said to want £30 million for Minteh this summer and completing two separate monetary deals with Everton would have helped each club's PST plight. However, it is not to be.

That collapse could present a chance for London clubs West Ham and Brentford. The Hammers are still in the market for an out-and-out striker to help Jarrod Bowen with the goalscoring load while it is still expected that the Bees will lose Ivan Toney this summer and need a replacement.

Football Transfers had reported that both sides were looking at a move for Calvert-Lewin with Everton under pressure to sell the forward, who has 54 Premier League goals to his name.

West Ham had first been linked with Calvert-Lewin in the summer of 2022 with a £60 million fee touted for his services. Lopetegui's side are also linked with interest in Sevilla forward Youssef En-Nesyri this summer.

The 27-year-old could perhaps present a more prolific option, with 20 goals in all competitions last season, and is said to want a move to the London Stadium.
