Tottenham are in the transfer market for a striker as they look to strenghten for next season’s challenge.

Former Tottenham star Alan Hutton believes English striker Ivan Toney is the right man to replace Harry Kane, who left the club last summer. Brentford would reluctantly sell the English striker if Spurs were to meet their valuation.

Toney opened the door for a possible departure when he changed his agent at the beginning of the year, expressing his desire to "play for a big club and win titles."

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has also admitted that ‘every player has a price’, even if he wanted to keep his striker, who broke the Championship record with 31 goals in 2021.

Since moving up to the Premier League, Toney has been a key player for the Bees, who continue to perform above expectations in the Premier League.

With the new season approaching, Spurs have Europa League football in addition to the League Cup, FA Cup, and the Premier League. Hutton believes bringing Toney to north London is a no-brainer. He told Best Online Poker Sites: "I think if Spurs want to properly kick on next season and challenge for the top four, they need to get a striker. Ivan Toney would be my top choice. I know people have mentioned the likes of Dominic Solanke, but I think Toney offers something different – he plays as if he’s bulletproof."

"Having lost Harry Kane, if they were to get Toney this summer, he’d be the one to take them to the next level. Regarding other positions, Ange Postecoglou should focus on strengthening the squad, such as acquiring a backup left back, although Destiny Udogie has been brilliant. There are just a few spots within the squad that need to be beefed up."

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the Brentford striker and praised him after his side’s narrow 1-0 win over Brentford in February. Guardiola said: "They have the ability with Ivan Toney – he’s a master player, a really good player. Other than that, they're really good at free-kicks, throw-ins, and so on."
